Whoooooosssh------

April batch students have finally finished their exams yesterday. Most of them are heading home today. In about a month's time, it's my batch's turn to face our finals. Time flies indeed!!

By the way, I watched Whispering Corridor 4: Voices a few days ago and rate it a......

4.0/10 for its storyline
3.5/10 for its horrors
4.0/10 for its special effects
(Its plot is kind of complicated and difficult to interpret)
Overall score: 3.8/10

I then switched to Shutter and gave it a......

7.2/10 for its storyline
7.8/10 for its horrors
8.2/10 for its special effects
(Its plot is simple, suspenseful and shocking at the same time. It's also easy to interpret.)
Overall score: 7.7/10

Total opposite ratings, eh?

I think that's all for now for some simple movie reviews. --Max out

P/S: Please pray for me in facing everyday life (exams, presentations, and works). Till then, take care and God bless!

There Is None Like Jesus

Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face continually. 1 Chronicles 16:11

My, my, my! Time reeaaalllly flies! It's just about seven more weeks till I return home. These coming few weeks are gonna be quite hectic as there are lots of work to be accomplished (e.g. presentations, assignment, trials). It's easy to sway away from God during these times. All the stress and anxiety can really break us down slowly if we don't overcome it properly. The same goes to the times when we achieve victory during competitive events in our lives. Worldly pleasures are also one--- temptations to do this and that.

Through all these, we tend to forget who really gives us our daily bread we need so much and guide us. We tend to have too much pride in ourselves and forget where our help really comes from and who actually gives all the blessings to us. That's why we should be still (Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God") and know that our Heavenly Father, our God, the Holy One is the one that we should give all the glory and praises to, because His Grace for us is sufficient. He is irresistible and the place of refuge. (Nahum 1:7 "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,")

And of course, faith is most important for every Christians. Without having faith in Jesus Christ (that He is the Son of God and died for our sins and resurrected, ascended to Heaven and will one day come again) and surrendering our lives to God, it is impossible to please God. (Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who diligently search for him. Hebrews 11:6)

I believe that God has a plan for everyone (and it will be accomplished according to His time) and that we should surrender in whole to Him and be humble before Him. When times of trouble dawn upon me, these Bible verse ("No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. 1 Corinthians 10:13) keep reminding me that no matter how serious the situation seemed to be, God is always there for us. God says to us in Isaiah 43:2 ~ "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."

He is truly the KING of KINGS, LORD of LORDS! Our SAVIOUR!!

Here is a song --- 'Your Name' by Paul Baloche.

As morning dawns and evening fades

You in- spire songs of praise

That rise from earth to touch Your heart

and glorify Your Name

CHORUS

Your Name is a strong and mighty tow- er

Your Name is a shelter like no oth- er

Your Name, let the nations sing it loud- er

'Cause nothing has the pow- er to save

But Your Name

Jesus, in Your Name we pray

Come and fill our hearts today

Lord, give us strength to live for You

and glorify Your Name

CHORUS

Your Name is a strong and mighty tow- er

Your Name is a shelter like no oth- er

Your Name, let the nations sing it loud- er

'Cause nothing has the pow- er to save

but Your Name

INSTRUMENTAL CHORUS

Your Name is a strong and mighty tow- er Y

our Name is a shelter like no oth- er

Your Name, let the nations sing it loud- er (1st & 2nd endings)

'Cause nothing has the pow- er to save

but (Repeat Chorus) (3rd ending)

'Cause nothing has the pow- er to save but Your Name (Repeat)

Till then, please continue to pray for me (my coming posts may delay).

Take care and God bless. Jesus loves you! :-)

Awesome God

Christ "is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." (Colossians 1:15-16)

I hiked up Gunung Jerai (Mount Jerai) early this morning with some of my friends. For those who never knew Gunung Jerai, it is located in the northern state of Kedah and has a height of 1200 meters above sea-level . In the olden days, it played an important role as a navigating point for sailors from as far as the Middle East and Europe. It also holds one of our country's (Malaysia) permanent jungle reserve.

Mount Jerai

It was a beautiful morning. The sun raised slowly and thick mist blanketed the rolling paddy fields of Kedah. The air was refreshing and cooling. We arrived at the foot of Gunung Jerai and took our breakfast-- I took two 'pau's (some kind of Chinese bun) and a glass of hot Neslo(Nescafe and Milo mixed). Others took nasi lemak with fried egg.

Initially, our plan was to drive up the mountain (14km long road) to reach its peak. However, due to some undergoing road construction, we had to walk instead. We came across quite a number of people coming down the mountain, some were exercising and some were taking a brisk walk. These are some of the pictures that I took on the way up:

A spectacular view of Kedah, the paddy fields are at the far right

Isn't God's creations marvellous?

The sun shining through the leaves and lightening up the path reminded me of this Bible verse (at left is Daniel, above photo:me): "Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth." Psalm 108:5

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours." (1 Chronicles 29:11)

About 1 3/4 hour later, there was still 8km (not 180) till we reach the peak. We were a little speechless when we saw it. We took a short rest and continued upwards.

An hour passed. It was more shocking when we knew that the peak is still 4km away from us. Due to personal reasons and time, we had to stop here and head back, bearing in mind that we will scale the mountain next time---with a car. Photo above: a record by us (height-720m, distance-approx. 10km)---walking (From left: Liang Ann, Daniel, me, and Jasper)

Halfway down the mountain, we stopped at a resting hut to cool ourselves down. We soon heard a car's engine sound from a distance, coming nearer to us every moment. My friend quickly walked to the road and tried to take a hitch for us. The driver slowed down his four wheel drive Pajero. From a distance, we saw our friend asking for the driver's help. We soon got a go from the driver. My heart praises God for the driver's help cause it'll be very tiring and time consuming if we were to walk down by ourselves.

Thank God also for the good weather and for bringing us back to our home safely. Not only did I gained some experience from this trip, I felt more grateful and thankful for what God has given to us. He is indeed a living God worthy to be praised forever and ever!

Till then, I'll be quite busy in the days to come. Please pray for me and take care.

God bless. Jesus loves you! :-)

Fairs and Works

"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock an salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken." (Psalm 62:1-2)

Thank God that everything went well during my Bio Fair yesterday. Two months of researches and works have finally paid off. The fair lasted for about 6 hours but what really matters were the times of preparations the night and weeks before. We were very tired after the fair. There were 24 booths altogether. Many thanks goes also to my group members who did their respective part(presentation) efficiently before and during the fair. Above all, praise God that my group members were well throughout the preparations and presentations and for keeping me strengthened the whole way.

The topic my group chose was HIV/AIDS. Each of us then chose a subtopic to present. I presented about preventions yesterday. To summarize the whole event, here are some photos for your view:

There were 18 booths in one area(in front of the cafe)...

...and 6 more behind

Jabez(left) explaining the origin of HIV/AIDS

Patrick(left) explained about the symptoms

From left: Patrick(symptoms and tests), Ong(possible cures), Jabez(origin), Naavin(transmission), Arthur(effects), and me(preventions).....(with our booth behind us)

My classmates(few were not present though)

There will be more presentations and also tests during the coming weeks.

Till then, please continue to pray for me and take care.

God bless. Jesus loves you! :-)
