Short Update

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."Deuteronomy 31:6

I finished reading The Last Disciple three weeks ago and is curently having my project presentations in the following weeks. I've presented one last Wednesday. Thank God that everything went well. Starting from today onwards, I'll be quite busy with my courseworks and stuffs, so I may not blog often.

The first book in a gripping new series by best-selling authors Sigmund Brouwer and Hank Hanegraaff explores the lives of Christians who struggle to survive and spread the Gospel during the climactic turbulence of “the last days.” With the enemy seeking to decipher the code of John's letter, Revelation, and destroy the church, believers must cling to the hope Revelation provides as they face the greatest of all persecutions. Totally Goo-some!!

I first come by this game through Gamespot last year. Reading its review and seeing its remarkably high rating(1st in the best games list last year) gave me a shock. That was my first time seeing a PUZZLE game overriding other action-packed and more thrilling games, e.g Call of Duty 5: World at War and Grand Theft Auto 4.

Just about two weeks ago, I found this game through a server connection(site of uploaded and shared files) here. Without hesitation, I downloaded it right away and tried it to solve my many unanswered questions(Why such a high rating?).

"Wow."

That was what I said when I first get into the game. It was totally unexpected. I didn't expect it to be so..... cute and adorable. The game play is very different from other puzzle games cause it just had this potential to stick your brains and eyes to it for a long, long time. With it's spell blinding soundtrack and Gunbound-like-graphics(except that it's far better than Gunbound), the player will definitely play it till he/she reaches the last level where there is always a completely surprising and wonderful storyline(plot).

Without further a due, let me introduce to you the best puzzle game I've ever tried:

World of Goo

World of Goo is a physics based puzzle/ construction game.

The millions of Goo Balls who live in the beautiful World of Goo don't know that they are in a game, or that they are extremely delicious.

You can drag and drop living, squirming, talking globs of goo to build structures, bridges, cannonballs, zeppelins, and giant tongues. The millions of innocent goo balls that live in the beautiful World of Goo are curious to explore.

World of Goo is very addictive and wow-inspiring puzzle game that will set you on an adventure you'll never forget.

Another thing, it only takes up 76MB(approx.) on your hard disk after installed! Not to mention, you get to online with other Goo players too to construct the best Goo structure!

World of Goo screenshots:

Just a reminder, you cannot defy the laws of gravity.

See the pipe at the upper right hand corner? That is your goal to success.

You must sometimes build really tall(balancing it too) Goo tower to reach the top.(Patience and perseverance required)

I'll give World of Goo a superb 9.5/10 for its great and creative game play and campaign, as well as its fantastic features.

For more info and visual on this game, youtube.com is one the best sites to see players struggling with these globing goos.

Till then, take care and God bless.

Love

'Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . .And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. - 1 Corinthians 13:4-13

There was a talk on dating at my church here last Friday. The speaker told us some very important things that we have to bear in mind before getting involved in a relationship. Two of the points given are that we should have a mature personality(thinking also) and have an independent state of self-emotion, which means that we do not rely on somebody else to help us to deal with our love affairs. These points do not only imply to our self, but also to the other-half (love partner).

The speaker also came up with some of the love issues happening throughout the world. Teenagers nowadays are getting more and more stubborn in thinking and has the mind-set that everyone has their own opinion towards something. For example, if a teenager is getting involved in some immoral activities and his or her parents know about it, his/her experienced parents would tell him/her the consequences and give him/her some advice. However, a mind-set of self-opinion and reliance causes the teenager to have a thinking that his/her parents have their OWN opinion and he/she has his/hers. For the teenager, her parents' opinion may be wrong and his/her way is the right one.

The Bible(God's Word), however, is always right. God is perfect and His Words are blameless. No one can say that "the Bible has its own way on relating things" and stating that "some facts are wrong" and making a statement instead that his/her own idea is right.

From the Bible, we can see that a relationship should abstrain from sexual immorality and kept Holy, as our body is the Lord's temple('Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ' -Ephesians 5:21) & also ('So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.' -Ephesians 4:17).

The Bible also tells us about the true meaning of love:'Love is patient, love is kind.

How does God pour out His undying love onto us? 'This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.' – 1 John 4:9-11.

As children of God, we should not only love God our Saviour but to also love one another. 'Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' – Matthew 22:37-39

There was also a campus event(in conjunction with Valentines Day)--'First Beat: Got Heart?' where I was one of the performers(pianist) with Gordon and Athinia(vocalists). The song performed was "Bless the Broken Road". Praise God that everything went well. There were 18 performances altogether and a few of them are really well performed. Others were also equally good. The funds raised from the sold tickets will be directed to charity. It was a great event.

In the midst of giving chocolates and flowers and expressing one's love to another, let us not forget our love for God and continue to serve and give praises to Him.

Last but not least,
to everyone!!

Till then, take care and God bless.

Jesus loves you! :-)

Worms of War

Have you played Worms before?

I don't mean playing with the sluggy slippery-skinned worms you can find at your lawn or under some damp soil...

The Worms I meant are some brave fictional hardcore 'worm soldiers' who fight using weapons of mass destruction.

See what I mean?

Introducing a few of the really classic and best interactive-well known games ever made(developer- Team 17)-- the Worms Games.

The first Worms game(Worms PC) was released worldwide in 1995 when the best computer graphics can only support 2D games. The worms in Worms PC are seriously quite mature looking and seemed always ready for some heart-pounding session of gunfire shooting and grenades exploding right beside their ears. The weapons available in the game is of course, I reckoned, much lesser than its coming successors. Worms PC is really just the starting and pioneer for the future Worms Legacy that will catch every one's attention, young and old.

Worms PC(1995)

The list below shows the subsequent releases(after Worms PC):...As it grew(till Worms Blast), the graphics became better and better(in the sense that it became more 3D like but not yet). Not to mention, the sound and music became more intense and created a World War II like ambient. Not to forget, the worms definitely got cuter and cuter.(Warning: you would probably change your mind on this(cuteness) after hearing what your 'cute little' enemy worms could say and seeing your own worm soldiers brutally killed by them).

Do you see how cute and 'innocent looking' this worm is?(well, think again)

1) Worms Reinforcements
2) Worms United
3) Worms 2
4) Worms Pinball
5) Worms Armageddon
6) Worms World Party (Focus)
7) Worms Blast

After nearly a decade, Worms 3D was released. The game was the first in the series to be in 3D and also featured several new weapons. Some of the weapons operations are substantially different from previous Worms titles. I must admit that the game really caught my attention when I first played it. Rather than just walking right and left(in the early series), the worms in Worms 3D can move anywhere they want until you end your turn. The ingame landscapes(battlefields) are quite vast and owning. Using weapons like the rocket launcher and grenades, you can blow the world around you to pieces or leave it untouched (but i doubt it).

Worms Forts: Under Siege and Worms 4: Mayhem were released in the later years. Worms Forts and Worms 4 are quite similar to that of Worms 3D, except the number and theme of the battlefields that came with it. The campaign levels are also pretty challenging and mind bogging.

One of the extraordinary weapons featured in Worm Games is the 'supersheep'. It can fly about and somehow 'tear' its own mantle off when you want it to drop on a targeted zone. It is really useful and destructive if controled properly.

Supersheep: Don't be deceived by its looks

Other weapons are such as the renown 'Banana Bomb' and the 'Holy Grenade'. They are indeed powerful and could blast your enemy worm off the ground, throwing it high up the sky--and down into the sea(depending on the world played).

After playing most of the Worms games, I must say that the older Worms games are slightly better. It is much easier to play and control. Moreover, the landscapes available are much easier to monitor and managed(not too complicated) and the worms are more ingenious looking. The 2D version of Worms games are certainly addictive and have the potential to keep their players playing. Frankly speaking, I favor Worms Armageddon a lot.

In all, the Worms games are great in their own ways and I'm sure that these games can keep family members entertained during their free time playing it together.

Worry.....not

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

My final term has just started a week ago and I have also received my assignments and projects from my respective subject lecturers. What makes this term different from the past two terms is that this is the most important term. The final exam(3rd term) marks is also triple to that of the exams during term 1 and 2. And that goes also to the numbers of course works assigned to us. Moreover, the 3rd and final term exam will be covering the whole syllabus of what I have studied. So you'll bet that the works and the chapters are mounting up. From my last terms exam results, it has shown some improvement but I still need to work harder on one of the subjects, in fact, for other subjects also.

Thank God for the improvement in my results and for His guidance and Grace in my life. At times when I am feeling down and facing failures, He gives me the strength to move on and teaches me to be more humble in life. With prayer and faith, I believe that everything goes according to His will and God has wonderful plannings for me. And with that, I can't stop serving Him and giving praises to His name. I learn to be more contented in what I've got and continue to give thanks to Him no matter how the current situation I'm in seemed to be. He is truly an awesome living God!

Before ending my post, I would like to introduce to you one of the latest release of Integrity Music by Don Moen(Hiding Place album)- Still/ Be Still and Know

He is indeed a God worthy to be praised and honoured forever and ever!

Till then, please continue to pray for me and take care.

God bless. Jesus loves you! :-)

Mom's

They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. (Psalm 145:7)

First of all, let me introduce to you the one and only, the ever famous and forever stomach-filling, Sarawak 'Kolo Mee'!(a type of Chinese Noodles).

A must-try!

And now, let me introduce to you some of my mom's best homecook food:

Egg-Sea Cucumber-some meat..... soup

Spaghetti with some self-add-in ingredients apart from the ready made pasta.

My mom's special and tastiest 'Laksa' I've ever tried

'Laksa' after mixed. The good thing about home cook 'Laksa' is that you can go for a second or perhaps a third round whenever you feel like it.

Seen Siamese egg yolk twins before?

My aunt's home cook noodles(very filling)

In all, thank God for all of these and giving me a mom who is so loving and good in cooking. May God continue to bless and strengthen her and the whole household.

Till then, Take care and God bless.

Chinese New Year Delights

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." (James 1:17)

The photos below show some of the homebaked cakes for the Chinese New Year celebration. Most of them are baked by my pastor's wife and her children. All of these require hard work and great interest.

Of course, the cakes are rich in taste and butter.

Top layer(fried) of the Chinese 'Kompiah'(a type of flattened bread, seasoned with sesame seeds) being rolled up and mixed with some special ingredients.

Cookies with crushed groundnuts
Dates and 'Ba Gua'(sliced pork)

Seaweed (fried)

Deco

My cute baby cousin came back to join in the celebration

Hazelnuts

Pecans

Rice balls

The bottom right one is called 'Watermelon Cake'

A new way to keep toothpicks

Laid my hands on the PS3 at my cousin's house. Graphics is certainly better than PS2. However, I reckoned the Xbox 360 is much better.

Another kind of fried seaweed

Red wine

'Cincao' with barley and red beans

Cherry blossoms at the Spring shopping mall

Till then, take care and God bless.
